Based on the novel by Julian Barnes, this play is inspired by the true story of how Sir Arthur Conan Doyle went to the assistance of disgraced solicitor George Edalji who, in 1903, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment for a crime of horse slashing, known as the 'Great Wyrley Outrages'.
