Frederick (Harry) Wharton joined the Royal Navy as an Ordnance Officer 1939 just after the outbreak of World War 2. He trained in Portsmouth at HMS Victory and at HMS Excellent on Whale Island. He served on HMS Effingham, HMS Glenroy, HMS Jervis, HMS Arethusa and HMS Emperor. In the 1950's he moved to Overton in Hampshire.
