Notes:
The Revd Stephen Bachiler, Vicar of Wherwell, founded the town of Hampton, New Hampshire, USA. He was ejected from his living in Wherwell, Hampshire in 1605 as a result of the Hampton Court Conference of 1604 in which James l declared he would make the Puritans conform "or I will harry them out of the land". He moved to Newton Stacey in 1614 and sailed to America in 1632, where he founded the town of Hampton in 1638.
