When Park Prewett Hospital closed in 1997 the doors were closed on the history of a hospital that had its own railway, working farm, bakery, butchers, bank, clothes shop and general store; an almost self sufficient community. A hospital where Canadian soldiers, plastic surgeons, doctors and nurses from allover the world and many others once lived and worked as well as several thousand mentally ill people who passed through the hospital, some to stay for their rest of their lives.
