Searching and Reserving

What resources can I find in the Library Catalogue?

The Library Catalogue contains information which describes all items held in our libraries.

How can I place a reservation?

  1. Open the Search Collections menu in the Navigation panel and select a collection.
  2. Perform a search for the title you would like to reserve and view the record in full display.
  3. Select the Place Reservation button displayed at the top and bottom of the record display. This button will only appear if a reservation may be placed on this item. A form will be presented for you to complete.
  4. Enter your library card number and PIN if you are not already logged in.
  5. You will be advised if there are any charges or problems with your reservation. If all is well and you wish to proceed with your reservation, select the Continue button. Select the Cancel button if you don't wish to place the reservation.
  6. If you decided to proceed, details of your reservation will be displayed. This includes your current rank in the waiting list for the title.

Cancelling Reservations

This facility allows you to cancel your current reservations and requests if they are no longer required. Please note charges may still apply.

To cancel a reservation:

  1. Login to My Account and access the Summary page.
  2. Select the link to display your current reservations.
  3. If you want to cancel individual reservations select by ticking the checkbox for each one you would like to cancel then click Cancel Selections.
  4. If you want to cancel all your current reservations click Cancel All.

Using My Account

What is My Account?

My Account allows you to access your account details where you can:

  • see what items you currently have reserved and if they are available to be picked up.
  • see your current loans and overdue loans
  • renew your loans if they are not overdue
  • see your current requests
  • cancel your current reservations or requests if they are no longer needed
  • create new alert profiles and update your existing profiles
  • review, update and delete any ratings and comments you have created
  • view a history of your previous loans, reservations and requests
  • view and update your address and contact details

Logging In

Enter your library card number and PIN in the boxes at the top right of the screen.

What do I do if I have forgotten my PIN?

If you have forgotten your PIN and we have a record of your email address, we can send you an email containing your current PIN.

Do the following to use this service:

  1. Select Forgot PIN? on the top, right hand side of the page.
  2. Enter your library card number and your surname.
  3. Click the OK button.

Your current PIN will be sent to your registered email address.

Renewing Loans

  1. Login to My Account and access the My Summary page.
  2. Select the link to display all Current loans.
  3. If you want to renew individual loans select by ticking the checkbox for each loan you would like to renew then click Renew Selections.
  4. If you want to renew all your current loans, click Renew All.

What is an alert profile and how do I set one up?

An alert profile allows you to create a profile that matches your preferences for materials you would like to use. When there is a match an email sent to you, which will include a link directly to the item and you can place a reservation against it if you wish.

  1. Login to My Account ~ New Alert Profile page.
  2. Enter your preferences in the search profile fields. You can select several options from the multi-choice lists.
  3. Click the Search button to test your search to see if it retrieves the number and type of records you are expecting. This will apply your search preferences to the Library Catalogue and will display the records retrieved. Return to your profile.
  4. Make any necessary adjustments to your search profile and retest the search.
  5. Select an alert frequency to indicate how often you would like us to check for matches.
  6. If you wish you can enter an expiry date to cancel the alerts.
  7. Provide a short description so that you can recognise your profile list. This is mandatory.
  8. Click the Save button. A message will be displayed to let you know your profile has been created.
  9. You can update your alert profile and access your new profile set from the My Account ~ Summary page.

Logging Out

Go to the top right of the screen and click log out.
