Summary:
When Carey, Charles and Paul Wilson are sent to spend a summer in the country with their aunt, they discover that her next-door neighbour Miss Price is an apprentice witch. To bribe them to keep her secret, Miss Price enchants Paul's bedknob so that is it is twisted in one way, the bed will fly them anywhere they wish, and the other way, it will take them back in time to any period in history.
Of course, magic is never as straightforward as you might hope, and that's why the children find themselves being arrested by a policeman, attacked by cannibals on a tropical island and wandering the streets of London in 1666, a week before the Great Fire. This colourful, dramatic tale will make you hesitate before you try to cast any magic spells yourself.
