National Year of Reading
The Department for Education, in partnership with the National Literacy Trust, has declared 2026 the National Year of Reading. This campaign aims to reverse the decline in reading, position it as a modern, powerful activity, and transform the national reading culture. Reading supports success in education, work, and life; boosts wellbeing; fosters connection; and builds empathy.
In support of this campaign, Hampshire Libraries will be buzzing with exciting events and activities throughout the year! Drop into your local branch to join the fun, discover new reads, and connect with your community. Find out what’s happening at your local branch here. We’ll also share challenges and reading recommendations right here to help you get involved.
