Adult Author of the Month – Colm Tóibín

Colm Tóibín is a critically acclaimed Irish novelist, poet and critic whose work focuses on issues of Irish identity and history. He’s also a trail blazing LGBTQ+ author, his books frequently exploring gay life and love. His most recent novel 2024s ‘Long Island’ is a long-awaited sequel to his beloved masterpiece ‘Brooklyn’ a tale of Irish immigrants in New York, love, longing and regret. Can you really return to the past and renew a great love?

Children’s Author of the Month – Michael Rosen

Michael Rosen is an energetic and much-loved Children’s poet and writer who knows exactly how to make kids laugh! A former Children's Laureate, he established the ‘Roald Dahl Funny Prize’ during his time in the role. He’s a natural performer who has entertained school children all over the UK for decades. All together now...We’re going on a bear hunt. We’re going to catch a big one. What a beautiful day! We’re not scared.

Pride Month

Pride Month takes place every year in June and is a colourful celebration of LGBTQ+ identity as well as raising awareness of issues facing the community. To mark the event we have a selection of Young Adult fiction, Adult Fiction and Non Fiction titles.

Read for Empathy

The Empathy Day Festival is a ten-day national initiative that takes place from 2nd – 12th June, culminating in Empathy Day on the 12th June. This annual event aims to inspire children to learn more about empathy and strive to build a better world for everyone.
